14 Weeks

14-weeks

How Far along?: 14 weeks today! Helllloooooo Second Trimester! I learned everyone thinks 12 weeks is the length of a trimester but if pregnancy is 40 weeks, 40 divided by 3 is 13.3.  So anyway, 14 weeks=official second trimester!

Our peanut is the size of a Troll Doll!

Size of the Baby: According to my apps, Baby Lightle is approximately the size of a Peach, a large Beet, a troll doll (let’s hope with a little less hair), a house mouse or a larger lemon.  Our kiddo is about 4 inches long and weighs 1.5 ounces!

Baby Bump:  It’s growing and I am beginning to see the difference!  My stomach is getting harder and filling out towards the bottom.  This is actually the thing I look forward to the most!

Gender: Our lips are still sealed! Our gender reveal is scheduled for the 27th! Hubby and I were just talking last night about how it’s getting harder and harder to not let it slip in conversation.  We have to conscientiously be aware of what we are saying when talking to friends and family lately. I can’t wait to share!

Movement: I believe it’s still too early to feel kicks.  I’ve had more of the gas bubble-like feelings but they are up higher.  I do feel like I can tell if our peanut is moving based on sharp, quick pressure I’ll feel on certain side.  I’ll have a dull pressure feeling on my right side and it will quickly change to the back and then may move to the left and so on.  The other night, Hubby was laying on the couch with his head in my lap, sort of pushing against my stomach.  Not just a few seconds later, I felt pressure against where Hubby was laying almost as if Baby Bear was saying “HEY! Move over, Dad!!!”

Sleep: Still about the same.  I get up about 1-3 times a night to use the restroom.  I have started limiting liquid intake after a certain time and it seems to be helping!

True Story

Maternity Clothes: I went and looked at maternity/nursing bras as a recommendation of my doctor (see symptoms below) and to make sure I was wearing the right size. Surprise, I wasn’t by a long shot.  I also got a longer tank top as I have noticed the length of my shirts seem to not be covering as much belly any more.  It’s not necessarily maternity but I’m also going to have to look at coats because I don’t think my coat from last year is going to fit this winter!

Symptoms: So I have had some odd symptoms lately dealing with my “ta-ta’s” and after asking around on local preggo forums and other friends, I realized the symptoms I was having were not common pregnancy related symptoms.  I quickly made an appointment with my OB and after she admitted she was stumped, (it’s never good when your doctor says “Hmmmm.”) she has referred me to a specialist to rule out some scary stuff, like the “C” word.  Although very rare and highly unlikely since I have symptoms in both of my “girls” and it’s symmetrical but it’s still a scary thought to have mid-pregnancy or at any point in life for that matter. I have noticed symptoms lessen if I use cold compresses and wear loose clothing, which is another good sign for me.  I go to see the specialist on December 1st being it was the earliest they could get me in.  Prayers for comfort, guidance and wisdom are much appreciated!  In the end, I know God is in control! Aside from that, hair growth is at an all time high! I feel like I have to shave my legs every day!  Heartburn is also still consistent and easily fixed with meds!

Cravings: Not much has changed in this department.  I’m slowing down on the milk drinking but I’m fully stocked on oranges and cinnamon rolls.  Breakfast food overall has been my #1 choice!

Aversions: Still the same here, too.  Overly greasy/fast food just sounds gross and even makes me want to throw up just thinking about it.

Missing Most: Caffeine.  I stopped drinking caffeine at the beginning of the year.  Primarily because we were getting ready to start our IVF treatments but I also wanted to focus on drinking more water and not soda (I don’t like tea or coffee).  I was the biggest Coca-Cola drinker and recently I noticed how bad I just wanted a “sip” when Hubby brought home a 2-liter for himself.  I have resisted the urge thus far.

Nursery:  Current state is still Dog Living/Storage room.  Going to start cleaning it out while I am still somewhat mobile and not huge yet.  Can’t wait to share the theme we’re going with!

Best Part of the Week: Friday afternoon I got a last minute appointment with my OB so she could look at my troubling symptoms I was having.  Afterward, she asked if I would like to see if we could hear the heartbeat.  I was a little hesitant at first given what happened the last time but agreed.  She immediately found Little Lightle’s heartbeat.   It’s always reassuring to be able to hear it, even if it’s just for a few seconds!

Can’t Wait For: K, my bonus daughter, is coming Tuesday for Thanksgiving Break! I’m excited to see her and finally tell her if she’s having a little brother or sister!
